Volunteer With Us

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with our rescue! Volunteers play a vital role in helping our dogs feel safe, supported, and prepared for their forever homes. While rescue work can be challenging at times, it is also incredibly meaningful, rewarding, and saves lives!

Volunteer Requirements

Rescue environments can be loud, dirty, and unpredictable. We’re looking for people who can stay calm, focused, and adaptable while working as part of a team. You do not need prior dog experience to volunteer with us but you must:

  • Want to learn

  • Be 18 years or older

  • Be able to follow instructions and safety protocols

  • Be respectful, responsible, and communicative

  • Be comfortable working around barking, messes, smells, and busy environments

  • Must be physically able to:

    • Walk dogs on leash

    • Lift and carry up to 25 lbs or more if needed

Our volunteer opportunities are typically on Saturdays during our adoption events located in the greater Seattle area. We are especially looking for semi-regular volunteers. You do not need to attend every Saturday, but consistency is important as it helps our dogs feel more secure and allows our team to work more effectively.

What Volunteering Looks Like

Volunteers typically start out with:

  • Walking dogs

  • Spending one-on-one time with dogs

  • Providing exercise, enrichment, and human interaction

As you gain experience, additional opportunities may include:

  • Helping bathe or groom dogs

  • Assisting with preparing dogs for meet-and-greets

  • Supporting basic training and confidence-building

  • Helping with general event flow and dog handling

  • Transporting dogs to and from vet appointments

Our goal is to give our dogs positive human interaction, structure, and stimulation while they wait for their forever homes.

You will be working with dogs of all sizes, breeds, energy levels and temperaments. We will never ask you to work with a dog you are not comfortable handling. We take time to learn your comfort level and skill set so we can place you in roles where you feel confident and supported.

Note: Working with animals means working with the unexpected. Dogs may be nervous, excited, overstimulated, or still learning manners. Because of this, we need volunteers who are open to learning, receptive to feedback, and able to take direction seriously.

Safety for both people and dogs always comes first.
